Surdoue Boutique Express Opening September 15th!

Ladies, whether you are looking for clothing for career, casual, cocktails, club, couture, church or custom, Tower Square’s newest retail tenant says her store will be able to more than meet your wardrobe needs following the “7Cs” of successful fashion retail marketing.  Gentlemen, you won’t be left out in the cold, as Lisa Goodman of the new Surdoue Boutique Express is also introducing a small line of men’s clothing including dress shirts and ties at Tower Square.

Surdoue Boutique Express will be opening on September 15th in approximately 600-square feet of space in suite 272 near the entrance to the Citywalk Cafes Food Court.

Owner Goodman, who began her career in Boston, has 23 years of experience as a retail business owner including a 2,500-square foot store at the Eastfield Mall for several years and another shop in Chicopee.  She is also planning to open a larger store on Boston Road in the spring, hoping to have enough downtown Springfield business to keep the smaller shop in Tower Square open as well.

Goodman added the word “express” to the name of her Tower Square shop to imply the ease with which busy officer workers can shop and make a purchase at her store.

“We will have a very nice selection of quality clothing for all sizes, and a full line of accessories and small gift items like nothing else offered downtown,” commented Goodman.

On opening day Surdoue Boutique Express’ models will be showcasing some of the fashions available at the store.  So stop by and see for yourself on September 15th!

Cambridge College Recognized as One of Top 50
Most Ethnically Diverse Colleges
Congratulations to Cambridge College for recently being ranked #7 in the nation for diversity by Best College Reviews, an independent college review journal.

According to the journal, Cambridge College received the ranking because it is a center of ethnic diversity, with over 65 percent of students being members of a minority group.  Students of ethnic background are said to flourish at Cambridge due to the inclusive culture that produces a positive educational experience. The International Student Office offers services and assists students from over 50 different countries who are studying in all majors at all levels.

The list of colleges was chosen based on the following criteria:

·         No race can have more than 45% representation

·         At least three races are represented by over 12%

·         Percentage of total minorities graduated 2012-13

·         Scholarships, clubs, organizations, and associations available for ethnic groups

Marriott’s Root Beer Float Day Nets Proceeds for
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Approximately one-hundred people stopped by suite 111 across from Champions at Tower Square last month to enjoy a refreshing root beer float courtesy of the folks from the Springfield Marriott.  The Marriott, teaming up with Baystate Health, celebrated National Root Beer Float Day by giving away root beer floats to anyone who made a monetary donation to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  The four-hour event raised $373.

According to Springfield Marriott General Manager Bill Hess, Marriott International has been a longtime supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network beginning in 1983.  “Families have always come first at the Marriott, and therefore we are proud to support the Children’s Miracle Network through our Breakfast Buffet, Aquafina Water and Root Beer Float campaigns,” explained Hess.

By the way….Root Beer Float Day seems like something of a natural celebration for the folks at the Marriott.  In 1927, founder J. Willard Marriott Sr, opened a nine-stool root beer stand that grew into the Hot Shoppes Restaurant chain, and then evolved into today’s Marriott International hotel company!
