Year-End Stress?  Take a Break.Take a Walk thru the

Festival of Trees!

The Trolley Tree is a big hit with the kids at this year's Festival of Trees.  The
trolley and the accompanying cluster of trees will be raffled off along with all of
the other trees at the festival when the season ends on December 14.

Stressing out because of end-of-the-year office work and last minute holiday preparations?  Perhaps you need a little break from your busy routine to help clear your mind so you can be more productive.  Why not take time out to enter an enchanting world of twinkling lights, artistic and creative holiday trees, colorful ornaments, and valuable prizes at the Festival of Trees.

The Springfield Boys & Girls Club's magical Festival of Trees is just a few steps away in the Tower Square Meeting Room.  The festival features more than 100 beautifully decorated holiday trees all donated by sponsors.  The trees, d cor and all, will be raffled off at the end of the festival, which runs through December 14.

Admission to the festival is $5 per person, however Wednesdays are Downtown Business Days, so bring your colleagues and your business cards and get in for free.  Don't forget to be prepared to purchase some raffle tickets to enter to try to win your favorite tree.  (Many trees are valued at more than $1,500!).  Proceeds help to fund the many wonderful children's programs offered by the Springfield Boys & Girls Club.

Experience the Festival of Trees for yourself, and capture the magic of this wonderful event.

Holiday Open House Entertains Record Crowds

The Dickens Carolers entertained the crowds with merry melodies during last

month's Open House.

What appeared to be a record crowd of families attended the Tower Square Holiday Open House last month following the Parade of Big Balloons the day after Thanksgiving.

After enjoying the sights and sounds of the parade with its large whimsical character balloons and other exciting elements, attendees converged on Tower Square to take in free marionette shows, the Festival of Trees, face painting, balloon clown, magician, carolers, sing-a-long piano and photos with Santa.

This is the tenth year that the Tower Square management office has hosted the Holiday Open House in conjunction with the balloon parade, and apparently the festivities have caught on.  The first two performances of the Tanglewood Marionettes' Sleeping Beauty in the food court were standing room only, prompting a third impromptu performance.

The Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Springfield Boys & Girls Club, had the largest volume of visitors for opening day in the festival's 8 year history.  Santa, the face painting station, and Tails the Balloon Clown were also popular venues at last month's event.

Terry the Merry Stilt walker was a big hit with the little
people during last month's Holiday Open House.

NUVO Bank Takes Main Street by Storm!

Onlookers on Main Street scrambled to get the Nuvo money coupons shot via air

canister from the garage during Nuvo Bank's grand opening festivities last month.

It's not every day that downtown office workers look out their windows and see money coupons blowing out of the Tower Square garage onto Main Street, but one day last month it happened, thanks to the clever folks at NUVO Bank & Trust.

It was a sight to behold.a thousand or so play money coupons blown from an air canister from A-level in the garage...cascading into the hands of eager onlookers on Main Street below.

All a part of Nuvo's grand opening celebration, the money coupons were redeemable for a variety of prizes, including a $1,000 and $500 deposit into new Nuvo accounts.

Nuvo, the first locally owned bank to open in downtown in years, officially announced their opening to the public during a harvest festival and ribbon cutting celebration on Main Street last month.

As part of the festivities, Main Street was closed to vehicular traffic in front of Tower Square to make way for entertainment, restaurants, the Zoo on the Go, media tents and more.

Nuvo Bank & Trust is located at the corner of Main & Bridge streets.  They are a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service (CDARS) and the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
